Pakistan’s Brand Identity: Past and Prospects
Guest Speaker: Mr. Javed Jabbar
Mr. Javed Jabbar is a well known personality of our country. He is considered to be one of the legends of Pakistan’s advertising industry. In the mid 1970’s he established MNJ Communications which set new standards for the advertising industry. He has to his credit some of the most creative and trendsetting advertising campaigns of the 70s and 80s.
In 1976 he wrote, produced and directed Pakistan’s first full- length cinema film in English – “Beyond the Last Mountain”. His most recent film as a writer and producer is Ramchand Pakistani which was directed by his daughter Mehreen Jabbar. This widely acclaimed film has won several international awards.
Mr. Javed Jabbar has more than 30 years of experience in international affairs and in public diplomacy as an elected Senator and Minister in 3 Cabinets with Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto (1988-90), Prime Minister Malik Meraj Khalid (1996-97) and General Pervez Musharraf (1999-2000) and as a specialist in Track-II diplomacy, mass media and the environment.
Mr. Jabbar has also rendered voluntary services for over 30 years to a wide range of causes. His not-for-profit work has touched tens of thousands of the poorest through his founding of several organizations and his hands-on support to the empowerment and development of women and children and the promotion of education.
Mr. Javed Jabbar is also the Global Vice President of International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) which is the world’s largest environment organization.
The Human Rights Society of Pakistan presented him with a Gold Medal in May 2008 for outstanding voluntary public service.
